My First Six Months: From Lucky Wins to Hard Lessons
My trading journey started with a bang. I caught the GME frenzy, turning £500 into £1,800, and scalped quick profits on Nvidia CFDs during earnings. But looking back, none of that really matters.
I realized quickly that those wins were the result of unique market circumstances, not skill. That early luck bred overconfidence, leading to a harsh reality check: I lost £600 almost immediately by following the “hold to the moon” herd, ignoring stop-losses, and giving in to greed.
Since then, I’ve been “swimming to New York”—diving into the deep end to test my psychology and find the pitfalls. I’m down another £500, but I view this as the cost of education rather than just a financial loss. I’ve learned that while I can draw charts, my instincts and discipline need serious fine-tuning.
Current Strategy & Goals: My immediate goal is to bring my accounts back into the green. After that, I plan to move into options (SPY, QQQ) and scale up my MetaTrader5 expert.
Recent Activity: I successfully sold NVDA before earnings but bought the dip a little too early at $112 (it dropped to $107). I correctly predicted the drop but lacked the confidence to short it—I’m still trying to decipher if my bearish feelings are genuine market understanding or just my natural mistrust of manipulation.
I’m posting this because I’d value scrutiny on my actions. I’m here to learn, refine my strategy, and move past the “lucky” phase into consistent trading.
