Today, I balance my professional life between the precision of WordPress development—building custom themes and plugins—and a contrasting, kinetic role in the great outdoors, where I support families and foster community growth.

Community & The Great Outdoors: Kirkcaldy YMCA 2025
At Kirkcaldy YMCA in Fife, I channel my energy into supporting local well-being through free community initiatives. The outdoors defines my work with the YMCA: you’ll often find me leading woodwork sessions, group cycling, or even cooking over a fire in our “wild space.” I particularly value our Wednesday woodworking sessions, where I help people gain the confidence to tackle their own garden projects. Whether I’m hanging hammocks or driving new initiatives, my goal is always to foster a deep-rooted love for nature and community.
Resilience & Perspective
Life as a solo parent to four children who live with me seven days a week has been my greatest teacher in the art of balance. This path hasn’t always been easy; it was forged through a personal mental health struggle that predated the pandemic, and further shaped by my evolving understanding of the ADHD and Autism that was realised within my family. Today, I use those hard-earned insights to empower others and advocate for an empathetic society. I believe in helping people embrace more positive perspectives, build resilience, and choose healthier, more fulfilling paths.
Chairperson: Leadership & Local Impact
My commitment to my community goes beyond my day job. As the Chairperson of the Gallatown Community Initiative—the largest group of its kind in the area—I dedicate roughly 10 hours a week to volunteer leadership. Interestingly, this role unfolds in the same community hub where I work for the YMCA, creating a seamless connection between my professional and voluntary life. I’ve even been able to merge my two worlds by using my web development expertise to amplify our community efforts.
