For four years, I’ve been actively involved with my local community group, Gallatown Community Initiative. I served two years as Chairperson, leading a rebranding effort with a new name and logo. My responsibilities included managing the community’s outdoor play space, overseeing funding, serving as a signatory, preparing meeting presentations, and delivering annual reports.
A significant part of my contribution has been building various community projects. These include:
- A polytunnel (with a volunteer) where my kids now play.
- A greenhouse, built solo, for a local primary school.
- Shelves for the community pantry.
- Designing and overseeing the construction of a large mud kitchen and a bird table during junior woodwork sessions.
