One of the best things about our outdoor sessions at Kirkcaldy YMCA is that no two days are alike—mostly because the children bring such incredible imagination to the space.
During our recent session with a local primary school’s P5 class (9-10 years old), we saw how powerful it is to give children access to tools and materials, then simply step back and let them lead. The teamwork and creativity were off the charts!
We watched as students discovered they were fully capable of building complex structures from scratch—including a raft that was entirely their own design. From construction to digging for hidden treasure, the engagement was incredible. One student even declared it the ‘best day ever,’ which is exactly why we do what we do: providing a space where young people can build confidence and bring their own ideas to life.
